The Idea Behind Nifty Gifty Norfolk - By Robin Reitz

“I have always had a love for homemade arts and crafts since I was younger! It was a way for me to make some extra money for my young family while doing something I really loved to do. I have had the idea for the store for 5 + years, since I opened Ritzy Cakes & Eatery across the street in 2011. There is so much talent in Norfolk County and surrounding areas, and I believe that it needs to be featured loud and proud!! Again as a crafter myself, I found that I had to wait for a Spring or Christmas craft show to really feature my products. What I learned is that craft shows can be expensive and perhaps at times, not necessarily well attended. You could be paying anywhere between $50 for just a little table, perhaps at a school craft show, or a much bigger show which could be $250-$300/ weekend event. Crafters can have space in our store and have the retail exposure 7 days a week at a much less cost then opening their own business or doing multiple craft shows. Our store is not a market, it is set up like a boutique retail store with approx 80% of the products made by local artisans, crafters and local businesses which feature an eclectic mix of items for your home and or cottage. The really cool thing to me is that you are buying gifts and home décor that are hand made by your neighbor, by your brother, your sister, your mom or by your best friend. Not only are you helping them with a passion they enjoy doing as their hobby business, but you’re also helping them with extra income for their family. It’s great to have the gift of a hand made product. Nifty Gifty opened in October of 2016 and we are so very proud at how far it's come in such little time. We invite you to visit us and see for yourself all the amazing talent that resides locally."

We wanted to thank everyone who stopped by Nifty Gifty to help us celebrate our Grand Opening. It was a huge success! MANY special thanks to all of our incredible vendors for donating door prizes and for creating such WONDERFUL crafts.....without you this would not be possible!! Susan Deakin THANKS for the workshop painting snowman faces, that was so fun......and to our very special guest, Santa for taking time out of his very busy schedule to come and help us celebrate our special day.
